History

R.E. Elliott, Sr. opened the funeral home in 1896. His 1st location was situated over his furniture store on Broad Street, but it soon relocated to 11th and Ellis Streets. Years later, the funeral home again relocated to its current location on Telfair Street.

Elliott was the 1st undertaker in Georgia to use motorized funeral hearses. His profession brought him in contact with families from all over the area, and his tenderness endeared him to the hearts of many residents.

The Elliott Sons Funeral Home Columbia Road location opened in 1994. The crematory originated at the Telfair Street location and then moved to Columbia Road in 2003.
